Grand Canyon Star Party

Grand Canyon Star Party

While most Grand Canyon visitors stand on the canyon rim and gaze down into the wonders below, every June astronomers and park visitors gather together to take in the incredible sights of the universe above them during the annual Grand Canyon Star Party. For eight days and nights, amateur astronomers from across the country share their telescopes and expertise with park visitors, taking advantage of Grand Canyon's unusually dark skies and clean air. By night you can view planets, star clusters, and distant galaxies and by day you can safely take in views of the sun and Venus. Special guest speakers vary from year to year and park rangers are always on hand to provide information and constellation tours on both the South and North Rims. Dress warmly for this free event and bring your own red flashlight if you plan on spending time outside of the event area. Learn more about the Star Party from Grand Canyon National Park.
