Grand Canyon South Rim Hotels

Grand Canyon South Rim Hotels

The majority of Grand Canyon hotels and activities are available on the South Rim in Grand Canyon Village. The most popular Grand Canyon destination, the South Rim is close to an international airport in Phoenix, AZ and the Flagstaff International Airport is a little over an hour from the south entrance. The South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park is open year-round and is home to the Grand Canyon's main visitor center, as well as the majority of transportation options. All of the lodging on Grand Canyons South Rim within the Park is owned and operated by two park approved concession companies, Xanterra Parks and Resorts and Delaware North.

You’ll also find hotel options for Tusayan, AZ on this page, because of its close proximity to the South Entrance of Grand Canyon National Park. Only a few miles from Grand Canyon Village, Tusayan has a park shuttle stop in, several hotels and some great options for restaurants, bars and activities. Tusayan Arizona is also the location of the Grand Canyon Imax, the most watched Imax in history and the Grand Canyon Airport, where Scenic Grand Canyon Flights depart for their daily Sightseeing Tours. Read the guide below to learn more about South Rim lodging options.

South Rim Lodging Options

El Tovar Hotel

The El Tovar Hotel offers the most high-end accommodations at the South Rim. Since its opening in 1905, many famous people have called the El Tovar home during their Canyon visits. It has a fine dining restaurant and offers concierge, turn-down and room service. Different room types are available, with suites available that feature sitting rooms and balconies. Plan ahead - this lodge gets booked up well in advance. Learn more about Grand Canyon El Tovar Hotel.

Bright Angel Lodge

Only a few feet from the Canyons edge, the Bright Angel Lodge was designed by Mary E.J. Colter in 1935 and is a Registered National Historic Landmark. Its rustic feel has made it a favorite with Canyon visitors for decades, and it is a hub of activity on the rim. The BA Lodge is home to two restaurants, a gift shop and history room. Lodge rooms do not have TV, and some don't have a private bath, while cabin rooms have both. Most rooms have only one bed. Learn more about Grand Canyon Bright Angel Lodge.

Maswik Lodge

The Maswik Lodge is located just 1/4 mile from the Canyons rim amidst a Ponderosa Pine forest. It features an on-site cafeteria, sports bar and gift shop. During the summer, you can choose to stay in rustic cabins without air conditioning. Learn more about Maswik Lodge.

Thunderbird Lodge

The Thunderbird Lodge is a newer facility and is great for families. Its location is between the El Tovar and Bright Angel Lodges which makes walking to either restaurant convenient. About half the rooms have Canyon views, although view rooms cannot be guaranteed. Learn more about Grand Canyon Thunderbird Lodge.

Kachina Lodge

Like the Thunderbird, the Kachina Lodge is suited for families and conveniently located between El Tovar and Bright Angel lodges. About half of the rooms offer partial Canyon views, although such rooms cannot be guaranteed. Learn more about Grand Canyon Kachina Lodge.

Yavapai Lodge

The Yavapai Lodge is the largest lodging facility in Grand Canyon National Park. The Lobby of Yavapai Lodge is located at Canyon View Information Plaza, and rooms can be accessed via shuttle or personal vehicle. Learn more about Grand Canyon Yavapai Lodge.
