"The Grand Canyon Enlightened"

Sedona Arizona

World renowned for its red rock formations, Sedona is yet another jewel of the Colorado Plateau.  From sandstone spires and picturesque Oak Creek Canyon, to 5 star resorts and vortices Sedona has it all.  Named after Sedona Schnebley whose family settled this area, it has changed drastically since the days of Apple Orchards and Sedona's native Sinagua Indian inhabitants.  Today's Sedona is filled with established artists, outdoors enthusiasts, and those who enjoy a more pampered lifestyle.

A tourism driven city, uptown Sedona is filled with shops, hotels, restaurants, resorts and spas.  With over 15,000 residents Sedona has all the necessities one needs, and a surprising amount of cultural activities and amenities.  Sedona is also home to New Age practitioners who flock to its many Vortex sites.  Along with numerous smaller events Sedona puts on a Film Festival, St. Patrick's Day parade, the Christmas Lights Festival and several musical events each year.

Sedona's real attraction is its plethora of outdoor activities, including many tours from Sedona to the Grand Canyon.  A well know mountain biking Mecca, Sedona offers riders a year round playground for green and professional riders alike.  Hiking is also a popular activity in Sedona, and there is a great variety of terrain to choose from.  Oak Creek is a great place to cool off when it's hot, and is stocked with trout for fisherman year round.  When the conditions are right during springs thaw, or after a heavy monsoon rain, kayakers can also enjoy paddling this beautiful canyon.  Rock Climbing is yet another activity available in the Sedona area where trad climbs up Sedona's many spires and buttes offer awesome summit views.  For those of you who aren't into human powered recreation, bring your jeep because Sedona's jeep trails have everything from rock crawling to grated dirt roads leading to ancient ruins.  Whatever your pleasure, if the great outdoors is your thing Sedona has something to offer and the Grand Canyon is just up the road.
